MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
"What you are seeing... is not what´s happening."
George Orwell
So... where is the truth lying?
In history!
There, in history, is where we will eventually find the footprints that will allow us to understand what the present is all about and how it came to be, as well as a guideline for what the future may "possibly" be. But make no mistake: history is a construct built up by the victorious, and as such, it is usually biased. So, this means that the future can only be what the winners may wish to impose upon us.
At the end, pragmatism is what keeps telling us that reality, not truth, is what prevails as the winner's imposition. And... who can argue that reality is not a reflection of truth or the truth that we are supposed to accept as a living fact? It´s all about manipulation and "social engineering".
We have learnt to hide the truth behind our acceptance of "what is... just is," even if that "is" has been constructed on top of a pile of lies or desinfirmation. We have ended up accepting that reality and truth are one and the same.
No questioning is allowed!
We have become the Goebbelian ideal...!!
Our responsibility as history makers and historians—and as social and intelligent beings—is to unfold as much as possible what there is of truth in the underlying rhetoric of any official discourse, not withstanding what the outcome can be. We cannot accept the Goebbelian imposition that "if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
Truth, historical truth, and no matter the cost, should and must prevail.
And that, my friends, is the dilema—or the "mission impossible"—of our times!
